One of the downtown Austin diners and Austin restaurants open 24 hours is the 24 Diner located next to Waterloo Records on North Lamar across from Whole Foods. Austin 24 Diner serves late night Austin food 24 hours a day with the exception of Wednesdays when it is closed from 1 AM to 6 AM. 24 Diner specializes in gourmet comfort food overseen by Chef Andrew Curren, who has worked alongside such top chefs such as Danny Meyer and Jonathan Waxman. Inspired by classic 24 hour cafes, 24 Diner dishes up local, farm-to-table and organic produce whenever possible and was the winner of Critics Best Milkshake in the Austin Chronicle Restaurant Poll 2010. 24 Diner serves breakfast all day including a breakfast vegetarian platter as well as updated versions of 24 hour cafe food such as chicken and waffles, meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
