Austin, Texas is a city of education and learning. According to the United States Census Bureau, over 43 percent of Austin residents age 25 and over hold a bachelor's degree, while 16 percent hold a graduate degree. Besides universities, colleges and independent school districts, Austin also has many opportunities for continuing education and informal classes.

Marmalade Skies is a walk in art studio located in north Austin offering paint, mosaic, collage or decoupage projects for both children over the age of four and adults. Parties for kids and adults are also available, as well as classes, lessons and summer camps. Marmalade Skies also has a Scout Coordinator on staff to facilitate Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts troops to earn badges.

School of Rock offers guitar, drum, keyboard, bass guitar and vocal lessons for kids from 2nd grade through high school.

St. Edward's University

Established in 1878, St. Edward's University located in South central Austin, Texas just south of the "So-Co" shopping district on South Congress Avenue is a four year liberal arts private Catholic university affiliated with the Congregation of the Holy Cross.  Located on a hilltop overlooking downtown Austin, St. Edward's has a well established theater arts program that is the only university program in the United States that allows it's students to join the Actor's Equity Association, the American labor union representing the world of live theatrical performance. St. Edward's University offers five bachelor's degrees in more than 50 areas of study through the schools of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Education, Humanities, Management and Business, and Natural Sciences as well as 11 master's degree programs. St. Edward's also offers similar bachelor's degrees for adults 24 years of age and older with classes on nights and weekends through the New College program, which began in 1974. Sports at St. Edward's include NCAA Division II athletic teams include men's and women's baseball/softball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis, and women's Division II volleyball. Notable alumni of St. Edward's University include Luci Baines Johnson, daughter of President Lyndon Johnson; Jorge Quiroga, former President of Bolivia; and Tim Russ, actor who portrays Security Chief Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager.
